WHS boys’ lax rolls; girls falter

WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School boys’ lacrosse team enjoyed a big victory against South Hadley on Tuesday.
Matt Lacroix and Kevin Papineau scored three goals apiece to lead Westfield past South Hadley 11-4. Lacroix also had two assists, and, along with Craig Ward, secured 14 of 18 faceoffs. Bombers’ Sam Scarfo finished with two goals and two assists, and Justin Halls and Garrett Fitzgerald had one goal apiece.
Ethan Nassar, Brian Jensen, and Noah Swords held a solid South Hadley offense in check for Westfield (9-4). Bombers’ goalie Jake Cupak finished with 11 saves.
GIRLS’ LACROSSE
Northampton 11, Westfield 8
Mackenzie Millikan (1 assist), Ashlee Owen, and Bri Silva scored two goals apiece for Westfield (5-8), which came up just short on the road at Northampton.
