PITTSFIELD – Westfield remained unbeaten with another key softball victory Thursday, a 15-3 trouncing of host Pittsfield.
“Once again, the offense was still clicking on all cylinders,” Westfield coach Joe Stella said. “Pittsfield is a pretty good team, but we just continued on a tear. Our bats are really hot right now.”
Maddy Atkocaitis had another sizzling effort, going 3-for-5 with a triple, a home run, four runs, and five RBIs.
She was not alone in her effort.
Kate Puza (4-for-5, triple, 3 runs, 2 RBIs), Lexi Minicucci (2-for-4, double, 3 runs, RBI), Analise Eak (2-5, double, triple, 3 RBIs, run), Karly Mastello (3-5, 2 RBIs, run), Jules Sharon (2-5, run), and Jess Pratt (hit, run) contributed for Westfield.
Bombers’ pitcher Sarah McNerney scattered four hits and one walk over seven innings. McNerney allowed three runs, just one of which was earned. She struck out three.
“It looks like things are running in the right direction,” coach Stella said.
