Gators blank Lee

LEE – The Gateway baseball team’s offensive remained red hot, and pitcher Brett Turban scattered four hits and one walk, and struck out six in seven complete innings in a 12-3 shutout of Lee to improve to 4-0 overall, 3-0 league.

Johnny Haskell had a tremendous outing, batting lead-off for the Gators. Haskell was 4-for-5 with two monstrous triples, four RBIs, and two runs scored.
Justin Edinger (2-for-3, two walks, two runs, RBI), Geoff Sobotka (2-4, run), and Curtis Dowers (3-4, double, 3 RBIs) were superb in the Nos. 2-4 spots in the lineup for Gateway. Gators’ Tom Ruffo had a hit and run scored, and Turbin helped himself out at the plate with a 2-for-3 outing with a double, walk, three runs, and run batted in.
Minnechaug 16, Westfield 2
WESTFIELD – Minnechaug took advantage of nine walks issued by the Westfield pitching staff, and four errors committed by the Westfield defense Thursday at Bullens Field.
Bombers’ Jake Toomey went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
