WHS lax downs Agawam

WESTFIELD – Matt Scarfo scored netted five goals and three assists to lead Westfield past Agawam 12-4 in a high school boys’ lacrosse game Thursday.
Matt Chlastawa (3 assists), Sullivan (assist), Justin Halls, Zach Kuzon, Austin Hodgdon, Craig Ward, and Kevin Chambers had one goal apiece for the Bombers.
Westfield goalie Jake Cupak recorded 13 saves.
Cupak was aided by defensive mates Noah Swords, Mitch Weiss, Corey Ward, Sam Evans, and Kane Miller. Craig Ward was effective on face offs.

EAST LONGMEADOW – Victoria Whalen and Ashlee Owen scored four goals apiece to lead Westfield. Bombers’ goalie Victoria Meneses finished with 18 saves.

West Springfield def. WHS, 17-25, 25-21, 12-25, 25-16, 18-16

John Bucko had 15 kills and two blocks, Dan Charvat notched 11 kills and four blocks, Ivan Zuev collected 15 digs, and Ian Canty finished with 26 assists and three aces for Westfield.
The Bombers fell to 5-2.
“It was a hard-fought match that we unfortunately came out on the short of,” Westfield coach Tyler Wingate said. “Our league is very tough – we know we need to be on top of our game, no matter the opponent. We’ll take this experience and work hard to be ready for two matches at the end of next week.”
