WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School softball team saved the best for last yesterday.
Westfield’s Emily Chrzanowski (3-for-4) knocked in the eventual game-winning run, and Katelyn Puza (3 RBIs) hit a bases-loaded, 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat visiting Pittsfield 6-3 yesterday.
Sarah McNerney scattered six hits, struck out seven batters, and walked none on the mound for unbeaten Westfield (6-0).
Maddy Atkocaitis (RBI) and Jules Sharon each managed a hit off Pittsfield pitcher Sarah Rayner (5 Ks), who allowed six hits and six hits.
