WEST SPRINGFIELD – Share, share, share … and share alike.
That appears to be the theme for the Westfield High School boys’ ice hockey team, at least in the early going as four different players scored to lead the Bombers (2-0) to a 4-0 victory Thursday night against West Springfield at the Olympia in West Springfield.

Max Maggipinto (2 assists), Connor Cottengim (1 assist), Liam Whitman (1 assist), and Ryan Porter scored one goal apiece for Westfield. Bombers’ Nathan Boucher had two assists, and Joshua Adams and Matt Pelletier had one apiece.
Westfield goalie Cameron Parent (14 saves) earned a shutout. The Bombers produced five different goal scorers in the opener, a narrow 5-4 win over Minnechaug last Saturday.
Saints leap into win column
St. Mary 52, Smith Vocational 42
Three players scored in double digits – Jake Butler (15 points), Andrew Illnicki (13), and Drew Collins (10) – to lift St. Mary to a thrilling 52-42 win over Smith Vocational in the Box Out Cancer Challenge Thursday night at Westfield Technical Academy High School.
Illnicki finished with three 3-pointers.
Giovanni DePergola and Kevin Rockwal finished with eight and six points, respectively, for St. Mary.
Luis Acosta (17 points) and Jayon Cardova (14) led Smith Voke.
Mastello magnificent
Gateway 30, Westfield Technical Academy 26
Shane Mastello had a monster effort to lead Gateway (1-1), nearly recording a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots in the first game of the Box Out Cancer Challenge.
Calvin Rioux made a key basket late for Gateway, putting the Gators up by four with about 10 seconds remaining on a follow-up of a missed lay-up to secure the victory.
Skyler Bishop led Westfield Tech (0-2) with seven points.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
White, Sullivan left Rams
Southwick 42, Palmer 31
McKinley White and Makenzie Sullivan scored 11 points apiece to help Southwick escape Palmer with an 11-point victory. The Rams’ defense did not allow any Palmer player to score more than seven points.
