WESTFIELD – The Westfield High School golf team played its hearts out before finally falling to Agawam 252-255 Thursday at Tekoa Country Club.
The loss knocked Westfield (6-10) out of playoff contention.
“The kids played hard today – they were consistent,” Westfield coach Chris Strycharz said. “They stuck it out. They tried to grind it out. It was a close match. Both teams played really well.”
Jeremy Doody shot a 39 to lead Westfield. Taylor Schmidt finished with a 42.
Southwick-Tolland 16, Voc-Tech 8
Southwick’s Jake Hough medaled with a 39 at East Mountain Country Club Thursday. Jake Parson’s 45 for Voc-Tech was second-best.
With the victory, the Rams improved to 8-6-1. Voc-Tech fell to 2-11-1.
