WESTFIELD – There is no larger pinnacle in Babe Ruth Baseball than to earn your spot in a Babe Ruth World Series, just ask the players in 2012 (13 year olds) and in 2014 (14 year olds) about the once in a lifetime opportunity to win your Regional Tournament and a berth in a World Series.
Both times the Westfield teams earned their state championship and then played in the regionals on their home field as Westfield Babe Ruth was the host for their regional tournaments. Winning was even better when doing it on your home field in front of your home town fans.
The 2019 Greater Westfield Babe Ruth team will begin their quest for a trip to Bismarck, ND in August, but first things first. The group of 15 Westfield players will play in the Western Mass Babe Ruth State Championship Series with a game scheduled against Pittsfield on Thursday, July 11. This opening game will be played at Bullens Field at 7 p.m. The game is free of charge. Play in the series will continue with a game on Friday, July 12 at Denning Field in Pittsfield.
The Westfield team will be represented by regular season players including: Dylan Arooth, Shea Byrnes, Joey Calderella, Jimmy Cloutier, Kyle Dionne, Noah Gardner, Troy Hevey, Dylan King, Hunter King, Ryan LaPoint, Walter Ninotti, Danny Provost, Carlos Rodriguez, Jayden Rodriguez, and Kareem Zaghloul.
The Westfield team is being coached this summer by manager Jim Cloutier, and coaches Joe Hevey, Chris LaPoint and Bob Gardner.
Westfield Babe Ruth will also be hosting the 15-Year-Old Babe Ruth New England Regionals at Bullens Field July 19-24. This will be a great time for Westfield fans to come out to watch some great baseball at Bullens Field. The winner in the regional tournament will earn a trip to the 15-Year-Old World Series in Bismarck, ND in August. – Courtesy of Dan Welch/Greater Westfield Babe Ruth Baseball
