Dean, Westfield shut out Easthampton

WESTFIELD – While Major League Baseball played its Midsummer Classic, the Whip City enjoyed another star-studded affair in Little League Baseball.
Jaylen Dean pitched four no-hit innings with seven strikeouts and one walk to carry the Westfield 9-Year-Old All-Stars to an 8-0 win over Easthampton Tuesday night at Nonotuck Park’s Milne FIeld.
Tyler Neal and Carsen Michelucci closed out the game for Westfield, allowing no hits and striking out three batters with two walks apiece.
Nick Madsen provided a solid outing behind the plate, catching all six innings.
At the plate, Westfield had 12 hits with Jameson Cotto, Dean, Madsen, and Michelucci leading the way with two apiece. Dylan Woering and Coen Marchacos came through with big hits in the team’s five-run fifth inning.
Westfield finishes up round robin play at Longmeadow Thursday night and home against Agawam Saturday at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field on Cross Street.
