WESTFIELD – The second half of the season may have brought change – in the form of a league schedule – for the Westfield High School softball team, but it was more of the same as the Bombers rolled to another victory.
Westfield pitcher Sarah McNerney scattered four hits, struck out eight batters and walked three as the Bombers defeated visiting Agawam 7-2 Wednesday.
The offense was also up-to-par, scoring seven runs thanks in large part to Jules Sharon (hit, 2 RBIs), Emily Chrzanowski (hit), Maddy Atkocaitis (hit, 2 RBIs), Katelyn Puza (2 hits), Kate Menard (2 hits, 2 RBIs), Lexi Minicucci (hit, 2 RBIs), and Syd Ezold (hit).
“This was our first league game so it was a good win for us,” Westfield coach Joe Stella said. “It was well-played. We’ve played better, but we did what we needed to do.”
