WESTFIELD – Westfield senior Loeiz Briand may have lost to arguably the best high school player in all of Western Massachusetts in last weekend’s individual tennis finals, but he is still perfect against all of the rest.
Briand continued his unbeaten regular season run intact, defeating Agawam’s Nick Twohig at first singles Monday 6-0, 6-0. Jacob Barbieri also won, 6-2, 6-3 for the Bombers who fell, 3-2.
Westfield’s second doubles pair, Aaron Caplette and Tilman Riemer, lost a heartbreaker to Dave Catrone and Chad Joyal, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3.
The Bombers (7-8) must defeat East Longmeadow (6-9) in their final match of the regular season to qualify for the postseason. The match will take place Thursday at Westfield High at 4 p.m.
