SPRINGFIELD – Westfield State freshman Travon Godette and senior Bobby Fitzgibbon earned All-ECAC honors at the ECAC Division III men’s outdoor track and field championships May 16-17 at Springfield College.
Godette and Fitzgibbon both placed eighth in the highly competitive championship that included colleges from New England, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Godette threw the javelin 182-6 and Fitzgibbon cleared 6-3 ½ in the high jump.
Just missing All-ECAC honors was junior sprinter Zack Madera, who placed 11th in the 100 meter dash in a personal best of 10.9, 1/10th of a second shy of the school record. Madera also was a member of Westfield’s 4 x 100 relay that finished 16th in 43.11.
Also competing for the Owls was standout pole vaulter Tom Gauger, who did not clear the bar on his opening height of 15-3 ½. Gauger remains in contention to qualify for the NCAA Division III national championships.
