Pair of 4-run innings propels CSC Force

WESTFIELD – They may be little, but they are a force to be reckoned with.
CSC Force scored four runs in each of the first two innings and cruised to a convincing 11-4 win over Dick’s Sporting Goods in a Westfield Little League Baseball Minors 5-inning game Monday night at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field on Cross Street.
CSC racked up nine hits in the winning effort.
Clean-up batter Alex Miller led the way for CSC Force, going 2-for-2 with a double, walk, run scored, and four RBIs. Parker Stopa (walk, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Drew Almeida (run, RBI), and Devin Clark (walk) also collected two hits apiece for CSC Force.
CSC Force’s pitching staff tossed a combined three-hitter. Stopa and Logan Bard combined for four scoreless innings, striking out six batters apiece. Miller recorded two Ks.
Aiden Kerkhoff had two hits and a RBI for Dick’s Sporting Goods. Jacob Antico had the other lone hit.
The two teams return to action Thursday night when Dick’s Sporting Goods takes on Westfield Fire at Paper Mill Field at 6:30. CSC Force battles Westfield Police at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field at 5:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Sons of Erin faces Slovak at Ralph E. Sanville Memorial Field at 5:30 p.m. Kiwanis squares off against Commercial at Paper Mill at 6.
In Westfield Little League Softball, Meyers Bros. and OMG will wage a battle in the 12-and-under division Wednesday at Sadie Knox. On Thursday, Richards Jewelers and Westfield Bank will meet in a 14U contest. Both games begin at 6 p.m.
