Southwick silences Indians

WARE – Southwick-Tolland starting pitcher Andrew Mitchell (5 Ks) pitched a one-hitter, reliever Bryan Sheil allowed one hit, one walk, and struck out one batter through two innings, and the Rams’ baseball team shutout the host Ware Indians 11-0 Thursday.
Mitchell and Sheil (2 RBIs) also collected a pair of hits at the plate.
Jake Goodreau led the hit attack with a homer, two runs, and two RBIs; and, Bob Hamel, Vinny Fortini (2 runs), Nick Masarelli (RBI), and Eddie Martinez (RBI) each had a hit.
St. Mary 7, Sabis 5
Brendan Mickalay recorded 11 strikeouts in a complete game for St. Mary.
Saints’ batters, Harry Reed (2 doubles, 2 RBIs), Charlie White (single, 2 RBIs), Brendan Gawron (single, double, 2 RBIs, and Alex Shelter (double, 2 RBIs) helped the Saints overcome some defensive miscues with a solid effort at the plate.

Westfield Voc-Tech 10, Pathfinder 5
Voc-Tech collected 11 hits after picking up an early 7-2 lead with RBI doubles from Connor Hebda, Jake Parsons, and Joey Gaulin – all big hits in the fourth. Reid Phillips picked up three RBIs.
Jake Parsons pitched 5 2-3 solid innings, and Josh Barrett delivered a decent relief outing.
Nick Wood played great defensively.
“The guys rally behind each other and really come together well when competing,” Voc-Tech first-year head coach Kyle Dulude said. “There is a lot of excitement right now. I think it is important for guys to stay level-headed and just build confidence.”
