NORTHAMPTON – The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association’s soccer tournament is about to resume, and the stakes are even higher.
On Tuesday, two area teams will play for the right to represent their schools in their respective championship games. That will come at the expense of some Millionaires.
The third-seeded Gateway Gators (13-1-3) will collide with the No. 2 Lenox Millionaires (12-4-3) Tuesday in a West Division 4 girls’ soccer semifinal at Northampton High School at 5 p.m.
The West Division 4 boys’ soccer semifinal, featuring the No. 3 Westfield Technical Academy Tigers (16-1-2) and No. 2 Lenox (12-5-2), will follow as part of a semifinal double header at Northampton High at 7.
The tournament will continue on Wednesday for the No. 3 Southwick girls’ soccer team (10-7-1) when the Rams take on second-seeded Wahconah (15-3-1) in a West Division 3 semifinal at Northampton High. Kick-off is at 4 p.m.
The semifinal portion of the tournament will conclude Thursday when top-seeded Westfield (12-3-3) collides with No. 4 Agawam (12-3-4) in a West Division 1 boys’ soccer tournament game. That contest is slated to begin at 7.
