AGAWAM – The Westfield High School boys’ soccer team rallied to avoid a loss against Agawam on Monday. The Bombers fought back from a 2-0 deficit, scoring three straight goals in a 3-3 tie against the Brownies.
Mike Santinello scored two goals and Matt Butera had one as Westfield managed to take a 3-2 lead on the road. Agawam netted the equalizer.
Westfield goalie Robert Bernadara played terrific in net, finishing with 10 saves, including an eye-opener.
“It was one of the better high school saves I have seen in a long time,” Westfield coach Gabe Crane said of Bernadara’s highlight save.
Crane said he was not disappointed with the tie.
“It was not bad,” Crane said. “We’re moving forward. A point is always good.”
