SPRINGFIELD – The Westfield State University men’s outdoor track and field team finished sixth in the Springfield College Invitational on Saturday.
The Owls, who were not at full strength in preparation for next Saturday’s MASCAC championships, compiled 68.5 points in the 10-team meet. They trailed WPI (229), Springfield (123.5), Keene State (98), Eastern Connecticut (84), and Saint Rose (78).
Two freshmen finished first for Westfield. Zack Delisle took top honors in the pole vault by clearing 14-1 ¾, and Matt Moussamih crossed the finish line first in the 800 (1:59.06).
Sophomore John Tomlin also performed well, placing second in the triple jump (42-4 ¾) and third in the high jump (6-4).
Sophomore Shawn Fournier was third in the shot put (41-7 ¾), and the 4 x 100 relay finished second in 43.56.
