AGAWAM – During Six Flags New England “Military Appreciation Week” from July 3 to July 6, all active and retired military will enjoy free entry to the park with a valid ID, and other guests are invited to donate toiletries and First Aid kits to receive a discounted entry, according to Medic Now Founding Board member Nicholas J. Morganelli, Jr. of Westfield.
The Medic Now Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to broadening health access for military families, has partnered with Six Flags for the Military Appreciation Week. The organization is also sponsoring a World War II re-enactment on Saturday, July 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The living history showcase will feature re-enactors portraying paratroopers in the 101st and 82nd Airborne divisions in the 1944 campaign.
Michael Duggan, president and founder of the Medic Now Foundation, said the re-enactors have all volunteered their time to support the mission of the organization, founded in 2017, to help pay out-of-pocket health care costs for service members through a stipend program.
The living history showcase will include historical displays, personal interviews and photos with the re-enactors in period costume.
“We are so excited to be able to partner with Six Flags New England on this very special Military Appreciation event during one of the most patriotic weeks of the year,” said Duggan.
“My hope is that children and their parents will get a glimpse of the heroes in our military past and get a greater appreciation for that generation of which there are not many left to tell the story. This group does an amazing job taking an audience back in that time of our American history and in doing so honors all who serve or have served,” Morganelli added.
For the discounted entry, non-military guests to the park who donate over $30 of toiletries will receive a $20.19 entry coupon to the park during this event. Suggested donations include: Shampoo, Conditioner, Razors, Body Wash, Deodorant, Lotion, Hand Sanitizer, Tissues, Anti-Bacterial Wipes, Floss, Lip Balm, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Comb, Blankets, First Aid Kits.
