HUNTINGTON – The Gateway boys’ soccer team has had somewhat of a stunning start to the 2013 regular season, and on Tuesday the Gators delivered their latest shocker, a 3-1 home win over Mahar.
Curtis Dowers recorded a hat trick (3 goals), scoring one goal in the first half before tacking on two in the second half. Nick McLafflin had two assists, and Calvin Dowers had one.
Mike Arel made two saves (first half) for Gateway. Gators’ Spencer Rock collected three saves (second half).
Gateway outshot Mahar, 12-6.
